TRAVELOGUE｜行旅圖

「行旅圖」系列版畫是蔡坤霖在田調過程中獨特的紀錄方式。以橫軸的方式記錄下他所見所感的經驗過程，不僅僅是地理上的，還包括時間和情感上的，這與中國的橫軸山水畫有著某種相似性。山水畫通常描繪一段旅程，亦包含時間與空間的流動。因此，通過結合木刻版畫與橫軸山水畫這兩種形式，藝術家創造出一種獨特的藝術表現，不僅反映了他的觀察和體驗，並重新組構了他所收集而來的空間感與故事敘事性，將傳統和現代相結合，進一步強化了作品的社會性和紀實性。

The “Travelogue” series represents Tsai Kuen-Lin’s unique method of documenting during his fieldwork process. Through the use of a horizontal axis, he chronicles his experiences, encompassing not only geographical aspects but also elements of time and emotion. This bears a certain resemblance to traditional Chinese horizontal landscape paintings. These landscape paintings often depict a journey, encompassing the flow of time and space. Thus, by merging woodblock printing with the horizontal landscape painting form, the artist crafts a distinctive artistic expression. It not only reflects his observations and experiences but also reconstructs the spatial perceptions and narrative stories he’s gathered. By integrating both tradition and modernity, he further amplifies the societal relevance and documentary nature of his works.
