The artwork is primarily based on sound and complimented by its shape and form. The objective is to draw the viewers in visually and follow up with audio imaginations. The creative core of the Shuanglian Sound Environment is based on the past and present of the MRT Shuanglian Station. The current location of the MRT Shuanglian Station is where the old Shuanglian Train Station used to be; therefore, the artist has chosen to use sounds that simulate old trains passing by the platform with a timetable indicating when the sounds will go off. Visually, plastic pipes are used to depict the advanced developments of today’s metro routes with various colors and shapes. Additionally, the flow of the pipes also symbolize the flow of people and information.
It is hoped that through the sounds of this artwork to reawake people’s memories of the old Shuanglian Train Station, and with the site of the artwork located on the present day metro line, the objective is for the new and the old to coexist harmoniously and complement each other.
