2/26 – 2/28 「台湾レポート」｜Taiwan Report

The North Chung School’s consecutive lecture series, “Art and Community,” explores the role of art in urban redevelopment through exchanges with Asian cities. The inaugural “Taiwan Report” focuses on Yokohama’s Chinatown and Taipei’s Lungshan Temple area, sharing insights and opinions on town preservation and its revival as a center for arts and cultural activities.

◇ What is the Lungshan Temple Bopiliao? During the Japanese colonial era, a part of Bopiliao preserved the streetscape from the Qing Dynasty but was abandoned due to its designation for elementary school construction. After the war, urban redevelopment for the expansion of the elementary school sparked opposition from the local industry and those who considered the area Taiwan’s historical and cultural heritage. Due to their relentless efforts, the government decided to preserve these streetscapes and reuse them for cultural and educational purposes. In 2009, after restoration, Taipei City Intensity Education Center opened, along with the “Bopiliao Arts Street Festival.”

北仲スクール連続講座「アートとコミュニティ」では、アジアの都市との交流を通して、市街地再生における芸術の役割を探ります。第１弾「台湾レポート」では、横浜市の黄金町と台北市の龍山寺地区に焦点をあて、町並みの保存と芸術文化活動の拠点としての再生について、情報・意見を交換します。

◇龍山寺剥皮寮とは
日本の統治時代、小学校の建設用地として指定されていたため、?皮寮の一角は清朝時代の街並を残したまま放置されていました。戦後、小学校の拡張に伴う区画整理に対し、この地区の産業に従事していた人、またこの地域を台湾の歴史文化財として捉える人々による反対運動が起りました。彼らの地道な活動により、政府はその街並みの保存と文化教育施設としての再利用を決定。2009年修復が完了し、台北市強度教育センターがオープン、また「剥皮寮藝條通(Bopiarts–Old Street Cultural Festival)」が開催されました。

黄金町と龍山寺地区のプロジェクトを、地域の歴史と現状、アートプロジェクト開催に至るまでの経緯を含め、都市計画の視点から対談形式で語ります。

2日目：2/27（土）｜分科会：台湾からみた黄金町、日本からみた龍山寺?皮寮

台湾と日本のゲストが２つのテーブルを囲み、意見交換を行います。
各回メンバーを入れ替え、それぞれの立場からコミュニティやアート、まちづくりについて、自由に話し合う時間をもちます。
