“A New Era of TAIKANG” signifies “Inaugurating a New Era for Taikang, Advancing Towards the Next Two Hundred Years”. This exhibition serves as a cinematic journey through time, recounting ancestral reverence and historic settlements, and searching for the harmony between future Taikang residents and their environment.

The narrative commences with “water”. Taikang was originally a lagoon, acting as a gateway to Taiwan. It served as a safe haven for sailors and a confluence of diverse cultures. However, due to silting and water-related disasters, Taikang gradually became encroached by land. Amid these harsh conditions, like hardy reeds, people sought livelihoods between water and land.

Today, the people of Taikang have solidified their foundation, transitioning from pond farming to building straw huts and establishing fish markets, thus finding stability. However, in the face of rapid external changes, how will they continue to manage water resources and coexist harmoniously with nature, thereby establishing a sustainable urban habitat? It remains to be seen.

The works of “A New Era of TAIKANG” are integrated like landmarks into various key points of Taikang, guiding visitors to experience how the Taikang people “carved a path from the lagoon”.

Exhibition Locations: Sicao Dyke, Fucheng Natural Fortress, Taikang National Park Visitor Center, Jianan Grand Canal Water Sports Training Center, Tainan City Comprehensive Agricultural Wholesale Market.
