Remix 1.0 is an interactive sound installation developed from the idea of a sound mixer. In this work, however, the buttons and sliders of a conventional mixer are replaced by the bodies of the audience. As viewers move through the space, their movements alter the rhythm, pitch, and duration of the sound, turning the body into a means of engaging with sound.
The work grew out of the artist’s reflection on the act of listening in sound-based art. In many sound works, viewers or listeners often remain in a passive position, standing or sitting while receiving sound. Remix 1.0 invites the audience to move beyond listening and become active participants in the formation of sound. Sound is no longer presented as fixed playback; it continuously emerges through the relationship between movement, body, and space.
Through this work, the space becomes a mixer operated by the body. As viewers move, pause, approach, or withdraw, the sound changes accordingly. Remix 1.0 explores the relationship between sound, body, and space, while reconsidering the possibilities of listening and participation within sound art.
